Each month, we put the spotlight on the progress of various projects in and around the state of Victoria. This time, we look at the Commercial sector and the latest updates from Millers Junction, 510 Church Street and The Jam Factory.
Millers Junction
Project: Millers Junction Extension (Stage 3)
Status: Builder Appointed

The Millers Junction Extension is the third and final stage in Folkestone’s retail development in Altona North, Victoria. After striking a deal with BWP Trust, 3.4 hectares of land will be consolidated with the existing 2.2 hectares of Folkestone’s land holdings to create Millers Junction Retail.
Already home to Bunnings, Officeworks, Aldi, JBHiFi and more, this project will see the construction of a 13,330sqm large format retail centre anchored by Woolworths, BWS Liquor and TK Maxx.
With FDC Building Services appointed as the head contractor, building is due to commence later this year. Plans also include a 660sqm food and beverage hub, speciality shops and other food retailing, making Millers Junction a thriving retail and commercial district upon completion.
510 Church Street
Project: 510 Church Street Development

Ideally located in one of Melbourne’s most sought-after commercial districts and close proximity to public transport, 510 Church Street in Richmond aims to set new standards for workplace and Smart building design.
ADCO Constructions, Icon and Probuild Constructions are preparing tenders on this $70 million project which is due to commence later this year. When completed, the building will offer a total lettable area of 20,000sqm over nine levels of office space. This will sit above a ground floor comprising of food and beverage facilities and a three-level basement carpark with electric car charging stations and 169 bicycle parking spaces.
Featuring a sustainable green roof and balconies as well as technology-driven initiatives, this project will be iconic and one to keep an eye on.
The Jam Factory

Construction End Date: To be determined Value: $400m
The revitalisation of South Yarra’s Jam Factory in Chapel Street is earmarked to begin later this year with a Planning Permit issued by Stonnington Council back in May 2018. Tenderers are yet to be announced for this ‘mega’ project; a program of works that will create a new business, retail and entertainment precinct valued at $1.25billion when completed.
The Jam Factory will dedicate 25 percent of its 19,280sqm site to open spaces with a network of pedestrian laneways linked to a central plaza. Workspaces will range up to 15 storeys with floor plates up to 4000sqm as well as ample bicycle parking spaces and a 1350 space underground carpark.
Viewed as a major economic hub, the development will create 1000 construction jobs and over 5000 full-time jobs when operating. There will be numerous opportunities for qualified talent to be part of this historical project.
