With the Victorian Government addressing the need for many of the state’s schools to be refurbished to bring them up to standard, many main contractors are now switching their sights back to the education sector as s a lucrative industry. Below are 7 projects currently close to (or currently calling for) tenders, with works to commence in 2017.

Cheltenham Secondary College Redevelopment | $6.3mil | Cheltenham

Documentation is currently in progress with tenders expected to be accepted from selected builders within the next few weeks. The project will include the partial demolition and rebuild of existing facilities, renovation of the year 7 area, a new library and landscaping.

STAGE 4 Dandenong Education Precinct | $3mil (of the $40mil) | Dandenong

The refurbishment of the senior visual arts centre and library is the 4th stage of the $40mil Dandenong Education Masterplan. Development has been approved, and the tendering authority will be inviting selected builders shortly to tender.

Carlton Primary School Redevelopment | $10mil | Carlton

$10mil has been budgeted for the Carlton Primary School redevelopment is thought to see the site having a part demolition of an existing building and the addition of a 3 storey early learning centre, new principles office, indoor play areas, and the refurbishment of the existing space. The full project scope is yet to be confirmed.

Currently, in documentation stage, selected builders will be called to tender in the 3rd quarter of 2017.

It is great to see not only funding being injected into the education sector for further construction and development, also some great complex designs by some of the industries top talent.
