CSR Update: Supporting The Smith Family

Twelve years ago, Consultive kicked off its partnership with The Smith Family, a children’s charity that helps disadvantaged Australian kids get the most from their education and build a better future for themselves. For many Australian households, being in a position to purchase uniforms, books and other school supplies simply isn’t financially-viable. This is where The Smith Family comes in. With one in six children across the country sitting below the poverty line, their message is clear: supporting a child’s education is the best way to break the cycle of disadvantage.

The team at Consultive is proud to sponsor five children through The Smith Family’s ‘Learning for Life’ program – allowing us to make a genuine impact and do our bit for the local community. This incredible initiative is a three-tiered approach, providing disadvantaged children with:

  • Financial support for school essentials
  • Guidance and support from a ‘Learning for Life’ Coordinator
  • Access to The Smith Family’s out of school learning and mentoring programs

In the early days, we never thought we might end up sponsoring someone throughout their full school life. However, with our first sponsored student (who we’ve supported since prep school) reaching Year 11 this year, that’s exactly how it worked out. Over the last decade, we’ve followed her progress (as well as other kids we’ve sponsored) through regular updates, whether that’s letters, drawings, or even an appreciative thank you from a parent. It’s this personal touch and the feeling we are contributing to something important which is driving us to do our part for these kids, both now and in the future!

No child should ever miss out on making the most of their education. If you’d like to find out more about this fantastic cause, click here.
