Each month, we put the spotlight on the progress of various projects in and around the state of Victoria. This time, we look at the Residential sector and the latest updates from three projects: the QVM Residences, Calvary Health Care and the Cowper Residences.

QVM Residences

Project: QVM Residences Development

Status: Builder Appointed

Developer: PDG

Contractor: Hamilton & Marino Builders

Construction Start Date: Late 2019

Construction End Date: Late 2021   Value: $230m

As part of PDG’s iconic development of the Munro site, adjacent to the Queen Victorian Market district, the QVM residences will offer a range of apartments over two high-rise buildings.

Hamilton & Marino Builders have already been appointed to build the 41-storey project (works that will also comprise of 666 car spaces). Work has already begun with the site being cleared to make way for construction later this year.

As a high-end residential development within the City of Melbourne’s largest community hub (that also includes childcare, retail, family services as well as a boutique hotel), this project is a stand-out and one to keep following.

Cowper Residences

Project: Cowper Residences Development

Status: Tenderers Named

Developer: AVIC Development

Tenderers: L.U. Simon Builders, ABD Group,  Buildcorp, The Crema Group

Construction Start Date: Late 2019   Construction End Date: Late 2020   Value: $300m

Located only 4km from Melbourne’s CBD and on the banks of the Maribyrnong River, Cowper Residences will deliver a mix of contemporary terraces, New York style loft living as well as apartment dwellings.

With a floor count ranging from three to ten storeys and 219 car spaces, this development will comprise of four buildings. The lofts and apartments will feature curated rooftop gardens and access to communal facilities.

Construction is set to begin late this year with L.U. Simon Builders, ABD Group, Buildcorp and The Crema Group in the running to win the contract in the coming months.

Calvary Health Care Bethlehem

Project: Calvary Bethlehem Health and Retirement Precinct

Status: Tenderers Named

Developer: Calvary Health Care

Tenderers: Hansen Yuncken, Icon

Construction Start Date: July 2019   Construction End Date: Late 2020   Value: $73m

Tenderers have been named to submit proposals for the expansive redevelopment of Calvary Health Care Bethlehem in Caulfield. Set to begin in July this year, the project will compromise of a new hospital, retirement village, residential aged care facility, medical centre and retail/café tenancies.

What makes this a significant project for those involved is its design, combining hospitals with retirement and aged care facilities. The contractors will also build an array of social and recreational amenities, including public green spaces to promote quality of life and autonomous living.

As a unique healthcare redevelopment contributing greatly to the local community, it is definitely one to keep an eye on and potentially be a part of.
